About Us
Established in 2011 by Founder and Bay Area Social Worker, Christopher Speed, our mission is to create opportunities for at-risk youth to build positive relationships and cultivate the mental, emotional and career readiness skills to discover their dreams—transforming their lives and communities. All ages welcome.
Career Readiness Workshops
Building 21st century skills are essential, especially for at-risk youth who often struggle to access resources and lack the emotional support and encouragement needed to succeed. career readiness workshops are offered at no cost to youth 18 – 24 years old throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. These workshops include website development classes and career discussions. The youth learn the basics of website development in the classes and where to access more information. The career discussions provide an opportunity to learn about careers from professionals and the hear about obstacles that speakers overcame. Through partnerships with local community organizations, we take these workshops to where the youth already are engaged. Partnerships include Larkin Street, Edgewood Center, and Not For Sale, just to name a few.
Sports Programs
These outdoor, group activities are a great way for youth to build connect with other young people as well as new mentors to participate in a more casual manner. For example, soccer clinics take a few forms from pick-up games at local parks to more organized classes through community centers and elementary schools.
Internship Opportunities
We will be recruiting interns to help us with our websites. The interns will help us promote our websites and T-shirts on social media. In addition, the interns will help us develop future programs. More information to come.
In addition, we created a social service database called apexhelps.org that connects people to nonprofit resources.
